Coaching vs. Consulting
First, let’s clarify the difference between business coaching and consulting in business. The less formal business practice of business coaching is the act of providing positive support and feedback while offering advice to an individual or group of persons in order to help them recognize ways in which they can improve their effectiveness, make changes to their business or management skills and affect organizational change. Many businesses that have not used a coach before are confused about the differences and distinctions between business coaching and consulting. The general gist is that a coach works with you to discover the issues in your business and suggests solutions and provides advice, but leave you to implement the solutions. Coaching assists with left-brain thinking. The left brain is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementation.
Conversely, a consultant implements the solution for the business themselves.
Advantages of a Coach are that the owner is more likely to learn how to problem solve themselves by watching the coach at work. By implementing the changes themselves, they become more empowered. Additionally, in implementing the changes autonomously, the owner also saves a lot of money. This approach is ideal for the owners of smaller businesses with turnover under $1 million. However, coaching in a large company is advantageous because the coach is a neutral outsde party who eliminates the politics and potential friction from the scenario.
Why seek advice?
After being in business a number of years, owners often are dissatisfied with the results from their efforts. They see other businesses continue to grow but they aren't able to follow. They may know what is needed, but are concerned about the risks involved in the next step and don't have the confidence to execute it themselves. The result is that many owners start to become risk adverse and make a conscious decision not to continue the effort to grow. The reason owners don't take their business to the next level is:
To overcome the fear of failure, business coaching helps you:
Certainly there is a cost for coaching, but that cost should be considered an investment. It is said that price is only a concern where ther is no value -- What value to your business would there be to achieve your 5 year goals in two years?

Natural ability alone will not guarantee success. Every Olympic champion has talent …. and they all have a coach. Every successful business person also seeks advice in some form. Where do you seek your advice?
